When I started my career in healthcare, I worked as a Radiology Technologist.  At that moment, I truly believed, "This is it! I've found my forever career." It was a job that involved taking care of patients, helping them through their healing process and making a positive impact on their lives.

After 12 years in radiology, I realized that I had reached a certain point in my career where I couldn't grow any further and felt held back. I wanted to acquire new skills, gain fresh experiences, and achieve a better work-life balance. That's when I knew I needed a change. I wanted to leverage my existing knowledge of working in the healthcare field but in a different capacity, in a role that would still enable me to enhance patient care.

It's interesting when most think of health care. They focus on nurses and doctors. Yet, many tend to forget the people who work behind the scenes. Those who are not in direct patient facing roles. The individuals in HR, IT, Cyber Security, Housekeeping, and many more essential workers.  It’s important to know that you do not only have to be a doctor or nurse to be in the healthcare industry. There are many roles in healthcare that play a significant part in providing the best care.

To gain exposure, I became part of the Radiology department's Process Improvement team. The primary focus was to continuously improve and enhance patient satisfaction. In this role, I managed various projects and contributed ideas for areas where our department needed improvement. Seeing the successful outcomes of these projects, my manager encouraged me to pursue a degree in project management. Inspired by this suggestion, I made the decision to enroll in school to pursue a master's degree in project management.

During my time in graduate school, My professor went over a chapter that spoke about Agile Methodologies and the Scrum framework. It intrigued me to be able to take part in a team to put in place scrum principles and deliver a functional product.

Since it was a short lesson that covered the Scrum Framework, I wanted to learn more. So, one evening, I conducted research to gather additional information and resources about Scrum. This exploration led me to discover various certifications that were available for me to pursue. However, I sought more than a brief two-day certification course. I aimed to gain practical, hands-on experience as a Scrum Master and immerse myself in the world of Scrum.

During my search, I discovered Scrum Life Consulting. Stephanie often posted on social media, and I found her content engaging and informative. She would often post valuable tips about scrum. When I noticed an available slot in one of her courses, it piqued my interest, and I arranged a discovery call. I was able to get all my questions answered during our call. This gave me the confidence to enroll in Scrum Life Consulting without any hesitation. I felt a surge of excitement for the upcoming journey.

Over the course of the next 6 weeks, I immersed myself in the role of being a scrum master. I was in charge of creating a backlog that included user stories for the project that was assigned to me. Throughout each session, I learned how to facilitate the different Scrum events. I had challenges that could arise in a scrum team, and this required me to show how I would handle these challenges. During the course, I gained extensive hands-on practice using various applications and tools provided by Scrum Life Consulting.

Presently I now work as an IT Agile Project Manager. Scrum Life consulting provided me with the knowledge and skill sets to excel in my current role. I am very fortunate to have Stephanie as a mentor. She provided me with a wealth of knowledge that will benefit me as I progress in my career.

Thank you, Scrum Life Consulting, for your dedication and providing high quality teaching. Your passion, dedication and commitment to my success has made a huge impact on my career journey.
